Jane M. Berg began her insurance career in 1976 overseeing
the employee benefit programs for a large statewide
association. She accepted a position with OPS Blue Shield
in 1979, which today is Regence BlueCross BlueShield
of Oregon. During the subsequent fifteen years her roles
included customer service, sales and marketing to small
and large employers, national and negotiated account
sales, and sales management.
In 1994 she was recruited to PacifiCare of Oregon to develop new markets throughout Oregon. She remained with PacifiCare directing the commercial sales department until 1998 when she established Benefits Consulting Northwest.
With the industry changes over the last few years it has become even more paramount that our focus remains true to our mission, to continue "To design and implement employee benefit programs specific to each client based on a sound relationship and a genuine understanding of their unique insurance needs."
Megan Berg joined Benefits Consulting Northwest in the fall of 2005 as a licensed Health & Life Insurance Agent. Megan is working to expand the agency’s customer base in the Portland market area.
Megan graduated from Willamette University in the spring of 2001, where she majored in English. She brings four years of experience in customer service and sales. For two of these years, Megan worked directly with employee benefits within the insurance industry.
Megan is a member of the Oregon Association of Health Underwriters. She is an officer of two Toastmasters International clubs in Portland. As a toastmaster, Megan is recognized as an accomplished speaker and had received designations for her achievements in Toastmasters.
Jim Berg has worked in various aspects of the insurance field since 1981. He started with Standard Insurance Company of Portland as an independent agent. After five years he was recruited to Capitol Health Care in sales. At Capitol Health Care he moved into Provider Contracting and Network Management. He continued in this role with Regence Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oregon after it acquired Capitol Health Care in 1988. He was with Regence for the next nine years managing provider relations, with responsibility for Regence's provider service activities for the mid-Willamette Valley, south coast and southern Oregon. In 1998 he joined PacifiCare of Oregon in Network Development where he directed contract negotiations with hospital systems and physician organizations, monitored provider compliance and performance and facilitated the successful management of insurance risk by providers.
Jim earned his B.A. from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas and a Masters Degree from Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is a graduate of the American Association of Health Plans' national Certified Managed Care Executive program.
